I think I’m gonna make sunday my usual upload day, get on more of a regular schedule. I was so eager for the first one, I didn’t even think about it. I’m on vacation this coming week, so I’ll probably go and record several episodes, so I can have a buffer and actually get them out consistently on time! What a concept!

Let’s Play FFT – 01

Hello everyone, it’s been a while!

I apologize for the radio silence, though I did warn that I might be away for a while after finishing Moby Dick. I thought I could do those weekly blog posts… but it didn’t really work out. Then I thought I could get back to reviewing games, and while I do like the ones I wrote, it didn’t really give me the same satisfaction as my deep dive into Moby Dick.

But, I had a thought the other day: what if I did an LP of that new version of FFT? That would be fun, I know it’s a game I can finish!

Towards a Better Roguelike: How to Tell a Story

The vast majority of roguelikes don’t have any sort of plot at all. Or, at least, only the most basic bare bones of one. More of a framing story, something to explain what’s going on on only the most surface level. Going all the way back to the original Rogue, where you are simply trying to retrieve the Amulet of Yendor. Often, they run along those lines, get to the end of this dungeon and either retrieve this artifact or kill this evil wizard or whatever.
